Throwback Thursday: Greg Laswell’s ‘Three Flights From Alto Nido’
This week pre-orders began for ‘I Was Going To Be An Astronaut’ from Greg Laswell. This from Vanguard Records:
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, singer/songwriter Greg Laswell has penned a love letter of sorts to his fans with his forthcoming album I Was Going to Be an Astronaut to be released on February 11, 2014 and available for pre-order now. For this special 11-track collection, he’s re-made, re-imagined, and re-recorded some of his – and his fans – favorite songs throughout his career.
Laswell first came on my radar with an incredible cover of “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” in 2007, but it was shortly after that I found ‘Three Flights From Alto Nido’. Three Flights then was a beautiful collection of well written songs by a heartfelt artist, but now after some years and life experience it hits a bit harder.
The first taste of Astronaut is a reworking of “Comes And Goes In Waves” from Three Flights.
It’s a reminder of how nostalgic and pressing songs like “It’s Been A Year” and “Days Go On” are. It’s a poke at an old wound, a simple yet heartfelt collection of longing.
If you can tear yourself away from Britney Jean this week, please get acquainted with ‘Three Flights From Alto Nido’
